Does anyone know where I can find a splitter of some sort that will allow me to extend my desktop on two monitors? I can't seem to find one that will do that and I ordered one but it just splits the signal and creates duplicate desktops on each monitor instead of an extended desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The display extending is up the Video Card installed. If it has an additional ouput or not.

Any commerical video splitter will do what you describe as it is only cloning the signal.

What make and model videocard do you have?

I want to use it for a laptop. It's the Dell D620 but I want to use it through the docking station which has a VGA and a DVI splitter so I was wondering if there was something that would split it via the VGA connector or do I have to use one monitor for VGA and one for DVI in order for it to work. Using a splitter that I bought only "cloned" the signal which is not what I wanted.

So do you Want 1 monitor in addittion to the laptop's screen? or you want two separate monitors while keeping the laptop screen closed?

For the first one, just connect a monitor to the VGA ouput and use the Display Panel to extend the display.

For the second one a DVI to VGA converter should be easy to come by, and relatively cheap to buy.

sorry, got submitted too soon.
You can then Plug two VGA monitors and again use the Display panel to extend the desktop to both of them.
