Video not playing in IE

Ran across a strange problem and was hoping if I could get some help. I got 2 PCs to troubleshoot my problem. One PC has IE5.5 and the other has IE6.

IE5.5 - I go to a website with a video clip and everything plays ok.

IE6.0 - I go to same website and Video does not work, sound works ok, no error message appears.

I figured out the problem to be a WMP codec. Both PCs did not have the codec before I went to the website, however 5.5 did download and install the needed codec, while 6.0 did not for some reason. I think the 6.0 install must have changed a setting (probably security) that disallowed the codec from automatically installing. However, for the life of me, I can not figure out what setting caused this behavior.

What Operating System are you on ? I am on Windows 2000 and had that issue before. I would get sound when playing video stream though I could not get a picture and if I did it would be very distorted. I had tried everything from uninstalling and re-installing Codecs. I finally resolved the issue by doing the following:


As I am on Windows 2000 Pro:

I clicked on MyComputer Icon and went into the Control Panel and then clicked on Display and clicked on the Settings Tab and then clicked on the Advanced tab on the lower bottom and then clicked on the Troubleshooting Tab and I basically Increased my Hardware Acceleration Speed to Full. Afterwards all my video stream playing worked fine.

I don't know what Operating System you are running but it's worth a shot to check for similar settings.
