video mode issues

I'm running a Poweredge 2300 server and cannot get it to except any video settings other than VGA, 16 colors and 600x400. I have installed the drivers for the ATI video, but when the system reboots it doesn't list any color settings or resolutions. Even set for VGA it won't let me change to 800x600. Everytime I change the resolution I get a BSOD, which goes away before I can see what it says and reboots.
It is making it difficult to view many screens at 600x400.
Please help
