Video is too fast...audio is in the right track....help

i converted a vob to avi so i could edit it in premiere, i viewed it in the windows movie player and it was working well, but when i imported it in Adobe Premiere cs4
the video moves faster and the audio is on the right track.

what did i do wrong?

is there someting to do with the settings? dunno where... i have no idea.

Can you convert it to something other then an AVI file, such as an MPG2?

Just a thought, don't know if it will really make a difference but that's what I would try first.

I have had AVI files (that I created in an animation program) that ran fine in Windows Movie Player, or just in Media Center, that went weird or wouldn't open at all, when I imported them to Premiere.

Changing the format has solved the problem some times.
