We have a Dell Optiplex GX260 with 512mb of memory running dual monitors with a dvi connection. It has a Radeon VE adapter.

Every afternoon both of the monitors will turn gray and if you click around on the screen you can see pieces of the applications running. Rebooting the PC solves the problem for the rest of the day.

We upgraded the video driver and turned off the transition effects in display properties, but still have this happen each day. Does anyone have any ideas?

Check your task scheduler and see if you have something scheduled to run in the afternoons. Also, check with Dell to see if there's a new BIOS for your OptiPlex. Lastly, ensure your Windows Update is current. If you're still having problems, repost and I'll see what I can do to help.
