Video Display Problems

Need help all. Got a Compaq Presario 1681 (not mine, I'd build my own) with a display problem. I came with Win95 and someone updated it to Win98se but the video does not work. Got all the cd's but could not find the right driver. Any ideas where I can locate technical data on this thing so I can look for the right drivers? Thanks.

On board video, right? Compaq web site is the first shot, then the chip maker for a generic if you can't get one from Compaq.
Can be a bear.
