Hey people,

I'm about to finish production of this Flash-based CD-ROM interface now. Still wondering, though, what would be the best way to display video clips from within the interface.

Some aspects of this issue has been discussed earlier, without making me (or you) very much wiser, I believe.

Well, I'm concerned about compability and would like the videos to run on all systems without any hazzle.

Trying to avoid attaching the whole array of video formats (avi, mov, rm, mpg and so on) to the disc, leaving the user with trial and error, I generated a bitmap sequence of a one-minute video and imported it into my Flash-movie.

The solution looks nice at first, because it runs completely within the interface, not requiring anything from the user's machine (like QuickTime or MPEG compability).

Problem is, the bitmap-sequence is HUGE. In fact, it's so large (at 12fps) I can't use it at all.

What I need, I believe, is to break up a more compressed video format into frames and go the same way.

Someone said it would be possible to import AVI clips as frame sequences in a similar manner, but I never figured out how.

I would very much appreciate some input on this issue.

Thanks,
