Thanks in advance! I am considering buying an ATI 64MB DDR VIVO card so that I can combine video capture capabilities with "decent" game performance. Granted, I know that I'm not going to get awesome gaming performance, but I'm more concerned with video capture.

Does anyone know if this card is worth $150. That's the cheapest I could find it on Pricewatch. Also, I was considering going with the ASUS V7700 64MB Geforce2 Ti Deluxe. This card has similar capabilites but of course with much better gaming performance. It is almost $40 more.

I don't want to spend more than $200 and would prefer to stay around $150 if possible - since I'm going to get a GeForce4 in the near future for my other pc.

Any suggestions?? Thanks again...

I'm using the RADEON 64mb DDR VI/VO and it works great! the price should come down a little, as ATI has released the 8500 and the all in wonder 8500

If you're looking for an all around card and will really use the video in and out, there's no better card than the Radeon. The GeForce cards actually have pretty bad video out quality... ATI also has superior quality DVD playback. The only down side to ATI is they are not as good as writing drivers as nVidia, but the Radeon line has been out for long enough that I'm sure they've solved the issues that plagued it's initial release (incidently, take a look in these forums how much trouble people are having with GeForce cards, there's quite a few problems with them).

dakota81,

Thanks, I think I'm probably going to go with ATI for now. I realize that GeForce cards have been known to have lots of general out-of-the-box problems. I've had to deal with a few on several systems that I've built. I was able to work through them all after updating drivers and tweaking settings in the BIOS. As you said though, ATI's line of video capture cards are far more superior in quality. So does $150 sound reasonable for this card? I believe it came out originally around $275+.

Later when I decide to go the gaming route, I'll grab a GeForce4!

Thanks again...

I have the same video card that you are considering buying and i spent about the same amount of money and I dont regret it for a second, the reason that I purchased the card was so that i could do work with adobe premire and it was so easy and the quality was so high that I would never recommend anything else. The 3d gamming performance is also extrodenary for this card. Its not the bes out anymore but its pretty freaking good. Enjoy

Thanks Tomic, that's good to know!!

well i have an ati all in wonder card, and this card only works when there are few other video related drivers such as compression schemes: divx, mpeg4, so on. i have now found out it was because i installed too many of them. so if you have problems with the card, try to backup whatever you can, den format the computer. since i had the card for about 5 months now and all of a sudden about 3 weeks ago i couldnt capture at all.... after i formated the computer, everything worked again. it takes alot of time to troubleshoot ATI cards so beware.
