Running a Nvidia tnt2 32mb, when i start my computer i can hear the fan making some loud noises, i found out it was my fan on my video card...
cleaned it....did nothing

if i unhook the fan from my video card, will my video card fry or will it still run ok?

Without hearing it, no.

I'd guess that the bearing has gone. Personally I would just replace the fan rather than try clever stuff like putting grease around the bearings - I always imagine the grease spurting out all over the inside of my computer.

Note that some graphics card manufacturers are naughty and use non-standard fans. Make sure you get one that fits!
