I need to be able to capture a video segment from a local news Web site. Though they use flash, the video seems impervious to any video capture software I try to use (such as those made to capture FLV from You Tube and other video sites). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Fraps is a freeware capture program. But i believe this one only captures whole screens (what you see).
With a program called snag-it you can select a part of the screen you want to record.
But this program has pretty poor video quality.

good luck

Thanks, Silverblade for the suggestion. That looks like it would do the trick, if only I could get it to work. Tried on two different computers, and it does nothing at all when I press the hot key. I installed it with the DirectX version it says it requires.

I've tried i myself now. Never used this program outside a game. But it look like it detects somehow that there isn't a game running and so it doesn't respond.

Weird :s i don't know why but it does?
