Looking for recommendations on a good video capture card to run under SuSE 9.0. Full screen, full frame, tuner optional.

Thanks in advance.

I hear several people say the Hauppage WinTV card is the way to go. I'm thinking of getting one for my daughter's computer. I'll let you know if I get one.

I use an ATI AIW 128 pro agp card. I installed the the gatos ati driver from sourceforge and it works fine.

I have a Haupauge PVR-350, and it works wonderfully... but getting ivtv installed properly is quite a bit of work. myth doublly so.

I have notes about how I installed it on my site (I actually used KnoppMyth... After the version of Debian didn't have working ivtv drivers.

Geez, I see nothing that's guaranteed to work. A freakin' 80 gig tivo with dvd burner is only $400. I'm worried about DRM though.

Kozusnik: is that ATI you have a capture card? ATI's site says nothing about it capturing...

From the link:

When I was buying mine, I was very careful to check compatibility and reviews. The haupauge cards work with the ivtv drivers, which are avilible for download. They are a little compilcated to install on a pre-exsisting linux distro, but it is possible (means rebuilding the kernel -- and possibly upgrading it).

If you decide to run knoppmyth (wich turns into a debian distro), here is my howto:
Otherwise there is the famous Jarod how-to for FC2.

I think there is a SUSE how-to, but I never actually saw it.

Erm, the gatos kmod causes instability and 'weird' happenings. Sometimes, X doesnt get along with it.

When it DOES work, its pretty darn spiffy.

If you're running this as a server, dont use the gatos kmod at all.

I use an Osprey 100 on RH 9 and an Hauppage WinTV on Slackware 10 and have been well satisfied with both.
Regards....
