I've got a Dell Dimension 8250 that has USB2.0 on-board (Via controller). I recently purchased a USB2.0 flash drive that will not work when plugged directly into my computer. If I plug it in to the USB1.1 hub, it will work fine, although it does indicate that I'm plugging a high speed device into a low speed hub.
Further testing: This device works flawlessly on a completely different system that does have USB2.0 (Intel controller). Also, this device works flawlessly on yet a different system that has only USB1.1.
When I plug the device into my USB2.0, the computer will read the device, but hangs when I try to access any files on it. Also, if I right-click on a file for context sensitive menu, it hangs - but if I then remove the device, the menu appears.
I'm completely up to date with windowsupdate and have discussed this problem to great length with Dell. No solutions have been forthcoming.
Does anybody have any ideas? Any help will be MUCH appreciated.
