Hi,

When We try to open a file with vi , it takes about 30s
to get in, this happens on nfs mounted filesytem

The server and the client nfs are tru64 v5 running

Is there some thing wrong on nfs ?

Any help, thanks

What are your NFS mount options?

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by - Douglas Adams

Line from /etc/fstab
#toto:/export2 /export2 nfs rw,nfsv2,bg,soft 0 0

I'm wondering about the nfsv2 option, the docs I have on 5.1B say the options are nfs and nfsv3 not nfsv2, what OS version is this.

Try setting read and write buffer sizes
rsize=1024,wsize=1024 e.g.

rw,nfs,bg,soft,rsize=1024,wsize=1024

The server and the client are running Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1A (Rev. 1885). I used sysman to configure NFS

What do you get from the 'man mount' pages?

I used the CMD :

mount -t nfs <server_nfs_hostname>:/toto /toto

cd /toto
vi toto1
I have to wait 15s before I get the vi prompt

What's wrong ???

Thanks

Is ftp'ing to the system slow also?

It may be network config...

What does /usr/sbin/netstat -i show?

If there are lots of Ierrs and Oerrs the problem is network...

...otherwise can't say.

netstat -i didn't show any thing wrong, but this problem
happens when we use lockd enable on the NFS server.
We try the same on the other box tru64 same config, and
it works

Please help

Thanks
