Back in '06 there was a request for help adding linked files to the VI export utility. The answer suggested to use Excel instead of VI. I encountered the same problem some years back and a Best rep guided me through a fix. It involved the 'Run' command using a system utility. The problem seems to be that VI only lists the file links that are referenced in the main file (i.e. IM.ITEM references AP.VENDOR for field PRIM_VENDOR_NUMBER in IM1). Although you could link the file, it would not show up in the DATA tab. I wrote the procedure down as the Best rep explained it, but I misplaced it. It did work. I still use ver 3.71. Is anybody out there familiar with this? VI is great for exporting data that requires field level calculations and I do not want to rewrite it in Excel. I do not know if it would even be possible. Thanks for reading and hope someone can help.

My suggestion is the same as in '06. Write something in Access to pull the data rather than push with VI. Faster by a rate of about 25 to 1. Also you should be posting on the Sage Community which is free and open to all MAS users. It does not matter if you are still on maintenance or not. You will receive more and better answers than here.

Can you explain what you are trying to export and what link you need to create.
