vi editor

I have this problem with "vi".
I 'm not able to write in file a row higher 30 character.
I have this message ......... segmentation fault ?

Aix 5.2

what 's the problem ?

Well, vim is a good replacement for vi, but vi is part of AIX. Thus why not try to solve the _real_ problem?
