vi editor limits

I basically am wondering if there is a way (or work-around) to have 1 line that can hold any amount of data I need. I keep getting "line to long". (I can get my XML data all on one line in notepad but when i try to open it in vi then it wont work, same deal)

As far as I know there is no work around for this problem in vi. However the vi clones Elvis and Vim both allow arbitrary line lengths and both have many good features not available in vi.
