VGMC card not working with rest of Option11 system

We have a VGMC card in a Nortel Option11. IP phones can call each other. IP phones cannot call other phones (e.g. 3903) or make external calls (busy signal). Other phone types are working normally.

I've reset the VGMC card with no luck. I'm unsure of what to try next.

Usually problems occur when you have a power cut and the IP devices come back on line at different times and therefore become out of sync.

On the older Option 11C system, IP phones were connected via a media card either the original double slot 24 port or later 32 port single slot cards.

Either type should have two Ethernet ports which were an ELAN and a TLAN. The TLAN was usually connected to your corporate network and the Embedded LAN ELAN was an internal network to all IP devices on the Nortel system.

Do a visual check on all connections to make sure that nobody has disconnected or moved a Ethernet cable.

The Option 11C system has a module below the power unit where your TTY ports are that has an Ethernet port on it. That's the ELAN link to the Media card and it needs to be connected. Check that all Ethernet ports are showing lights against them.

You might also have a signalling server connected to the Nortel system that handles the IP traffic.
The original ones were a blade type gray unit in a comms cabinet. Check it's powered up and press the reset button to restart it.

It's best if you provide a few photos.

Finally access the Option system via a TTY port to look at the history file and also the Media ports in LD 32.
