Hi,

I'm not the Unix Admin for our site.
I have some knowledge of it.
I have to do a vg extend.
On the procedure i ha to do vgextend ... -s 8.
I have never saw a -s in vgextend.
The Unix admin is in vacation and i can't reach him.
I have search on the net, the man pages ... found nothing.
What does the -s do ?

Thanks.

Ben

Hi, I'm not sure what you want to try and achieve.
below are the options for vgextend...

-f - force
-A - autobackup of vg config to /etc/lvmconf
-x - extensibility
-g - PVG group
-z - sparePV

if you want to use vgextend then its really to add a new disk to the volume group to you've got more space to extend or add more disk partitions/volumes. Is this what you want to do?

Regards,
Mike

vgcreate has a -s option (for size), but not vgextend...

Thanks i found out what i was looking for.
Yes i was to extend a volume group.
-s has to do with service gard that we have installed on our HP-UX.
