Hello All,

I user purchased a fonesitter this a small device that connects between the phone line and the phone. When the phone is off hook for 'x' amount of seconds the fone sitter will produce a loud tone notifying the user that the line is off hook. However, when connected to a VG248 the device does not see that the line is off hook but recognizes the line as being on a call.

Any ideas out there on how I might be able to change the VG Port configuration to tell this device that the phone has been off hook?

I'm guessing this works on a regular line!!!

I wonder if it is looking at the voltage in the on-hook,
off-hook status... Off hook on a normal line is some where around 11 to 13 volts AC and on hook is 48 volts AC...

Just a thought!!!

How does it recognize that it is off hook? Does it look for an x amount of seconds of dialtone with no digits dialed?
Voltage like jetter said?
You can tweak the vg248 but we need to know what it is looking for first.

There are two connections into the fone sitter. One connection is for the dial tone being generated from the VG248 and the other connection is for the analog phone. The device is supposed to generate a loud tone if the phone is off hook for an extended period of time.

This device does work with a regular telco generated POTs line.

I believe what I might be looking for is the off hook notification that's generated from the Telco. Example, leave your phone off hook and after a while you hear the fast busy signal. Leave your phone off hook even longer and you hear the Loud fast busy tone. The VG248 does not produce this loud fast busy tone but it will produce a fast busy tone.

Any thoughts on how this might be kicked off or what can be accomplished to increase voltage?

I have found the answer to my question:

VG248 Software Version 1.3(2)has the required settings.
Telephony -> Advanced Settings -> Port Busy Signaling -> busy out off hook.
