I have this gateway which we starting using after my legacy TDM went down 2 weeks back and I'm trying to get some of these ports set for voice only. What happens is there good for faxes but when I try connect the port to a standard analog desk set, I cannot call out but can receive, I removed the fax relay from the port configuration on both the gateway and call manager but still have the same issue. Any assistance would be appreciated.

fax relay shouldn't affect using the port as a phone instead of fax. If the fax can dial put so should the phone. Bad phone set perhaps?

Well, here's the wierd part. I used a butt-set, 3M DSP meter, and a standard deskset to test outbound dialing, fail. Calls inbound to all these devices are fine. Connect the port to a fax machine, calls in and out no problem. Doesnt make any sense!

Are you dialing an access code like a 9 or something when it's not needed or vice versa? This is not a call manager issue.
An analog device is an analog device as far as dialing out goes?
What error are you getting?

Is the phone set to pulse dialing. The VG248s require that device uses tone dialing. If you haven't already tried, verify that the butt-set is using tone dialing.
