I have legacy overhead paging systems in my enviroment and need to figure out how to connect them to the Call Manager (v8.6), They where connected via a COT (Central Office Trunk) port on an NEC 2400. Now this COT port was a 4 wire circuit. I was told to try and hand off a port on my VG224 by my Cisco vendor. I havent tried but does this even make sense? from a 4 wire to a 2 wire? someone also told me to try a FXO port on a router.

You probably need an FXO port. What type of input does the paging amp require? 600ohm? Is there a paging unit like a zone paging device between the amp and the NEC now?

Timely post.

I have a similar need. One of my sites is scheduled to be transitioned to Cisco. It is currently running a Mitel 3300 and has an overhead paging arrangement with a Bogen amplifier. The amp is dumb in the sense that it expects only raw voice input (600-ohms) and no switching. The Mitel accommodates this via a built-in paging adapter as standard bill of fare. This fundamentally mimics an E&M trunk and sends the audio out what would normally be considered the M-leads. (there is no zone or other adjunct inline)

The site is a remote and so will have only an SRST router and a VG202 for fax. What's the best way to get where I need to be? I note that an E&M module is available. Is that the way to go?

Thanks!

You can use an E&M module and go directly into the amp or an FXS or FXO port and front it with a unit like the Bogen TAM-B.
Either way it works fine so it's your choice.

Thanks. Since either way it looks like I have to buy something, I think rather than hang another 3rd party adjunct on the wall that the E&M module will probably be an appropriate solution.

We have several different paging controllers and wanted a quick solution. We also have berbee informacast but requires a zone controller to integrate with these legacy devices. The price is a little steep for this hardware.
