I am using SSA disks and those disks are shared between two using systems.
What i want to know is : what are the precautions that may affect my implementations and i want a site that talking about the shared ssa disks but not the virtual shared disks.

Danial

Be default, if an SSA disk is active on system A (volume group is varied on), the other disks will not be able to access that disk.

I have 64 SSA disks shared among 5 servers. We have no problems.

Bill.

Danial,

Even though AIX tries to prevent you from stepping all over yourself, I would recommend having a diagram of the disks in the drawer showing which system is using the disks, which volume group the disks are in, how each system sees the disks (both pdisk number and hdisk number), etc. It helps to have something like this if something goes wrong with one of the disks.

Familiarize yourself with the addressing of the disks in the drawer, be sure to label the cables (both ends!) as to which system and which drawer and connection on the drawer they are attached to.

Geeze - is my typing bad today :)

Let's try once more...my post should say:
