has anyone used something called SEDNA for VFP9?
I'm rtying to find out what this does and can't seem to find any articles/documentation except on microsoft..
I did read that I can runt soemthing called regddex which is a executable that registers something called ddexprovider that once it runs, I'll be able to see Visual foxpro in the connection dialog of Visual Studion 2005..

So i would like to know if anyone has used this and if anyone can pint me to a website/article where i can get additional information...

thank you

I wonder how this is related to web programming/applications, but:

A) Sedna is an addon to vfp, which does not change the foxpro core, bt adds three types of updates:
A1 - things written in foxpro that are only useful from foxpro
A2 - some free ActiveX controls from dbi, which require and check if VFP9 SP2 is installed
A3 - the DDEX provider, which really is an addon to VS05 rather than to vfp, but is of course helpful to VFP programmers.

As Sedna is hosted on codeplex under a certain license you'd need to check in detail, I think it's also applicable to use the DDEX Provider for DBC/DBF access, even if you don't own a copy of VFP9. It's available as a seperate download as a subproject of VFPX in
You will see the license and need to agree on it, when you want to download the DDEX Provider. As far as I see it's the "Shared Source License for VFPX", which mainly makes this usable free for noncommercial and commercal use. Check the details of the license in what that means for a product using the DDEX Provider. I'd say your rights on the main product remain, you don't inherit the license and don't need to make your project open source, but you need to also include the Shared Source License for VFPX and reference it in the product, but I'm not a lawyer.

Bye, Olaf.

thanks to all for the information...nothing is simple any more
