VFP7 - Missing 'Previously Used' List

I have been developing with VFP7 for a number of years on the same workstation.

For some reason, today when I launched VFP and entered a command such as MODI COMM VFP now no longer pops up the List of 'previously used' files.

However other Intellisense features appear to work fine such as popping up the reference list after entering MODI (e.g. pops up list with -- COMMAND, MENU, PROJECT, etc.)

Also once I have actually done a modification of a file, I would expect that file's name to now come up when I next enter the MODI COMM (or other command).

But NO - nothing pops up.

I have tried reverting back to a 'virign' copy of my FOXUSER files which did nothing.
And I did a Repair of VFP7 from the installation CD which also did nothing to resolve the problem.

Over the years I have gotten used to this pop-up feature and appreciate its convenience.

Any ideas???

Thanks,

Just another pertinent piece of information associated with this issue recently discovered.

I just remembered that yesterday I used an application called SafeXP which changes Windows settings to make the workstation more resistant to Windows problems. I used its default "Safe" settings on this particular workstation.

On a guess, I reverted the SafeXP settings to their previous values and now the VFP7 'previously used' popups are working again.

Therefore there appears to be some Windows setting which affects this VFP feature.

I would like to use the SafeXP settings, but I would also like to avoid using the ONE setting which is introducing this problem.

If anyone has any idea which Windows property this might be so that I can avoid setting it OFF (or ON), I'd appreciate finding out about it.

Thanks,

JRB-Bldr,

The settings in question are stored in the Foxuser resource files. I doubt very much that SafeXP knows anything about those files. However, it's likely that SafeXP is blocking all writes to certain folders, including your Program Files folder. If your Foxuser files are stored somewhere in Progam Files, that would explain the behaviour you are seeing.

If that's the case, the solution is simple: just move the files to somewhere elsle.

Mike
