VFP is Gaining in Popularity

Oh. When I last seen this - here: (it was about May or June '06, I believe), it was higher, and had made a more impressive move since the last year (some 13 or 14 points, I seem to remeber, but can't find the printout I made back then).

I'm staggered that Delphi is still in there, but I guess Delphi programmers are staggered that any xBase language is!

A chap called Finley asked me if VFP was still 'around' today - pity MS doesn't make as much of VFP as it could, but then again there's no money in it for them!

B-)

Well... shouldn't knock Delphi... I have used it and for some things it is really suited. Personally, I think it has a better interface to SQL (especially MS SQL), so it is very popular because of that. It also has better support for COM objects.

Not to get off-subject again, but one developer who has used Delphi loved it because it wrapped all its DLLs or whathaveyou into one neat package and it worked for every customer. Whatever language it was in before had caused so many complaints because the program automatically accessed various DLLs and do to various versions of Windows OS and DLLs or whatever, they'd get all sorts of complaints from their PC-inept users and they had to walk them through getting the right system files installed!

I see Python moved up a notch. It's an open source 64-bit program that is fairly similar to VFP as I recall. Too bad VFP won't be fully 64-bit or get ported to Linux, etc. But at least some VFP-like FoxTools are available as addins to VB.
