Our software opens to a main menu from which several different applications can be launched. The applications all shut down fine, however, sometimes the main menu hangs up in the Windows processes under Task Manager. This happens to our clients running Vista and XP. When they go to open the software again it thinks it is already running and eats a user license.

I assume you have the software main menu in foxpro and it launches external applications? Any code or further information may be useful.

The software main menu is in foxpro 7.0 and the apps launched from it are also in foxpro 7.0.

We've have never had a Foxpro program not close after it was exited and were wondering if anyone else has experience the same. It doesn't happen all the time. Task Manager does not show that it is running under the Applications tab it just shows under the processes tab.

Simple Release and Quit commands are executed on shutdown.

Thanks,
Laura

Laura,

You say that Task Manager is not showing it under Applications, but is showing it under Processes. That suggests that it's not the application that is running but perhaps something like a COM server. Is it possible that any software on the system is using VFP as a COM object, via Automation?

Either that, or there is some code in the VFP app that sets _SCREEN.Visible to .F. Is that possible?

Mike
