Gang, just a quick question regarding why an EXE created by VFP causes an illegal operation in Windows 98 and 98SE. Does it have to deal with the user already having VFP on their computer? Could it be caused by having different Service packs for Visual studio? A .dll conflict with other applications running on a particular users computer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Arty

This could be because of the following reason:
- If you install a VFP application that is compiled with say a VFP6r.dll SP4 and in your windows directory there is an older version, it could be possible that the exe crashes.

It is a good practice to install the necessary VFP dll's in the same directory as your exe, since this is the first directory VFP will look for the dll's.
In this case you have control over the versions of VFP dll's.

Weedz, yes that is correct. I do have the .dll's in the root of my application. Does the VFP6r.dll change with each service pack? I guess I should check that out. OK thanks for the tip.
