Dear All,

Need help. My VFP 9.0 suddently go crazy, it does not show all properties for form and table in data environment in properties windows. I have not idea what I have done.

I have try it uninstall and reinstall and even update to SP2. Uninstall windows update for oct 2013 too but still the same problem. However, When I installed VFP on other PC and it work fine. I need to work in my pc and do not want to reformat my PC.

Ex : Can't find exclusive properties for some tables in data environment and also form properties only show properties that have value.

Thanks.

Regards.

Have you perhaps set it to show "Non-Default Properties Only"?

In the Properties window, right-click on the area immediately above the tabs. In the resulting menu, if there is a tick against "Non-Default Properties Only", then remove it. That should solve the problem.

Those settings are part of the options, which VFP also saves to the registry. Deinstalling is a solution very seldom.

Bye, Olaf.

I agree. If you uninstall, and then re-install, you will still have the same registry settings.

Perhaps starting VFP with -A in the command line would be a better approach. What do you think, Olaf?

Yes, -A would ignore registry settings. But you'll not want to always start VFP with defaults. It would be a good check.

A good idea in any case of any mysterious behaviour is to delete foxuser.dbf gioven by sys(2005) and start vfpclean.app and reregister vfp9 itself via vfp.exe /regserver

VFPClean code is in xsource, it has a CleanFoxReg method, which resets several system variables, but not such settings as the property window setting. The only way to remove foxpro registry settings seems to be to remove them yourself, it's just one main key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualFoxPro, everything else is underneath for each VFP main version.

Bye, Olaf.

By the way:

Manually changing syntax colors via the registry setttings enables you to choose any color, not just some of the 16 or so colors the options window only offers.

All Editor...Color keys In /Options have a RGB(r,g,b,255,255,255) value. The 255,255,255 part is the white back color, you may also choose black, if you like that better, or have comments have a green text color with a bright yellowish backcolor or anything you want, you are not limited to only change the text color. I'd not opt for different back colors and keep all back color portions at one color, but that's of course a matter of taste.

Bye, Olaf.

I didn't know that. I'm not likely to need it, but it's worth adding to my personal knowledge base.

I faintly remember Cindy Winegarden mentioned this first (for me), she customized colors this way.

Bye, Olaf.
