Never mind the development enhancements...

The new version has a much better report rendering tool.

I've just been testing a new app against VFP 6 and VFP 9... the report viewer alone is enough to make buying 9 worth the money! I can now zoom in to 500%! and it looks PDG!

Well done Ken Levy and the Team (if I knew your names I would list them!) well done indeed.

Old apps stay in 6, but nothing new... VFP 9 is darn good, and about time too!

Richard Stanton did most of the report writer internal work. Contractors (Colin Nichols and Lisa Slater-Nichols) did the xBase pieces and design.

My personal opinion of the VFP 9 report writer:

Great! (saved my skin)
thread1252-918789 - Just one of the many added features of VFP 9 beta saved me and my fellow teammates a heap of design work and frustrating workarounds by allowing the use of the new "watermark" capability to place OMR marks on the report margins in a recent project. Talk about exactly what we needed just in time! I believe many reports will be rewritten to take advantage of this capability once programmers get used to the idea that bar codes don't have to stay in headers any more.

Still waiting... (but that's okay, I found a workaround)
thread1252-984387 - Still can't place a pie chart along a report expression which uses Stretch with Overflow option. If you use both side-by-side, then that report band is too long so apparently the report writer can't calculate the two different items' combined length and positioning correctly.

VFP 9 is the best!
