Has anyone ran vfp 6 on a unix server/network ? How involved is it ?
Thanks for your input.

Unless you can install Windows on the UNIX server, you can't install VFP on it.

If you're talking about just accessing the files, that's another scenario.

'Fraid I can't elaborate too much, it's been years since I have worked with UNIX. I do know that it don't run Windows. As far as file access, I'm not sure what sort of ODBC or SQL communications are currently available for UNIX but that would be an option. I am currently developing a custom in-house app which communicates with a 'main-frame' using Berkley sockets on the big box written in C and VFP on the pc's utilizing the WinSock control. The 'C' side (pun intended) passes the data back and forth using TCP, uses the big box's internal server apps to retrive/update the data files and passes the result/data back to the VFP app. The big box can either run UNIX or VOS. We use VOS so there's not a big variety of apps or developers around creating interfaces. That's why we do it ourselves.
