Asking for any ideas?

We have a RH 7.2 Linux server running notes 5 which has been trudging along nicely for several years. We are trying to update the server RAM and also notes 6+.

Currently the server has 256MB RAM. We installed a 2nd 256MB RAM module and rebooted. The BIOS recognizes it and when Linux is starting it recognizes the total RAM just fine.
We then start notes /notesdata/server start and it appears that notes is starting as it normally does then all of a sudden we get a giberish graphical screen which looks like one with all the wrong resolution and sync. The only way out is to reboot and tray and start over.

We then switched around the memory modules with the same results. Then, we pulled out ONE of the modules going back to 256MB ram and notes then starts and runs normally.

This does NOT make sense. As I am not a notes guru can anyone please explain what MIGHT be happening here? Any way to get it to work?

Thanks in advance.

Bob

Hello,

Sounds like the RAM is bad. I have never heard, regardless of platform, Notes having issues like that. I searched IBM's site as well, nothing related. Do you have any other RAM? Maybe a 512MB stick you can try? Just an idea. If I come across anything else, I will let you know.

Rgds,

John
