oi,

i'm using Linux RedHat 7.1 in combination with Apache that came with that dist. now here's my problem, i have a domain-name (which always worked in Windows 2000 AS) the DNS stuff goes thru PwerDNS.com. thing is (been messing wiht it for 5 hours now..) i can access the site if i use the local IP address (only from the PC where Linux/Apache is running on) but if i type the domain-name it won't work. also i cannot access the website from another PC..

please help me..
thanks in advance.

Do you run a firewall on the computer? Is Apache listening on all interfaces? Can you ping the box from other computers? //Daniel

thanks for the prompt reply.

1. i run the standard firewall on medium that came with RedHat.
2. Apache is indeed listening on all interfaces/IP's.
3. yes, within the network i can ping the Linux box from other PC's & reverse.

got it to work, dunno how but all of a sudden it did :}}
can you perhaps help me with how i can get files (alot) from a Windows 98 pc to the Linux box, both in the same network.

You might want to check out the Samba forums and if you don't find your answer, then posting this question there would probably be more fruitful.

forum865 this helps!

On a side note, should you not opt for the SAMBA route. Since there is a webserver up and running on here, you might want to think of temporarily running an ftp server on there. You could just ftp to the site, and dump all your files there.
This is just in case you don't go for Samba.

Just an idea!

SgtB,

installed and got Samba up & running.. works like a charm i must say & wasn't too hard to install, now trying to get your second option to work also so users can get on my ftp.. seems to me that ftp is harder to install then Samba.

thanks for the help buddy.
