I am trying to resolve an issue with our filemaker databases. We have lots of large databases accessed by many people over tcp/ip. Some of the databases are starting to slow down (100,000+ records) which is acceptable.

One thing I have found though is that some people have faster acces then others. Is there a user preference that could cause this problem? We have used 2 different logons on the same machine and found the time taken to open all the databases to be massive on one user and perfectly fine on another. We are using filemaker 5.5 on both PC (win 2k & XP) and Mac OS9 to access filemaker 5 server running on OS10. :(

Any ideas people???

Thanks,

Mike

I have tried the slow logon on another PC and it was fine? Whatever this setting/problem is, it appears to be stored localy! Are there any known problems with filemaker and XP? Are there any other apps known to cause problems with filemaker?

Slow FileMaker Pro in Windows XP? Try this link:

The title of the PDF file is "FileMaker Pro Slow Launch Time in Windows XP." The first suggestion is to manually get rid of all your temp files--it worked well for my FMPro problem, and I regained about 10 GB in HD space!
