Very poor performance

I am running the following:
Networker 511 build 115 (client and server)
Server is a SUN E450 with twin SCSI IBM 3590 tape units
Client is an RS6K H80
The client is on a different subnet to the server, and I am getting like 55KB/s transfer to the tapes. I have another client on the same subnet as the slow client that gives me 20Mb/s. The network card is config'ed correctly, and CPU use on the slow client only reaches 35%. Any ideas anyone? Mike davison

first up must update your system to 551-001 (build 143)

55 kb/sec look like a half-duplex connection. Verify the NIC from your Server, Client and Switches.

Hi there,

I experienced a similar problem upon first installing this software. When you setup your clients, Datensicherung is correct, you should make certain that you have the NIC in your server / clients set to 100 Mbps / Full Duplex and make certain that the ports on the switches the server / clients are connecting to are also set to the same (100 Mbps / Full Duplex). If the config is different between the server / client NIC and the port on the switch, they will not negotiate correctly. Leaving both set to Auto for speed and duplex is not a good idea either, there's no guarantee they will negotiate correctly each time.

Here's a first I actually got a quick response from legato. They essentially said what cfowler said. We changed the NIC and switches to be 100Mb/FUll from 100Mb/auto and the speed is blistering now!
