Hi,
I'm trying to open dxf-files with AutoCat 14.
These files probably were created with AutoCad 8. The value
of groupcode ACADVER is 1004, that means release <8 >(I think so). The Problem is, that AutoCad cancels the loading of these files with following(German) message:
"Ungueltige oder unvollstaendige DXF-Eingabe -- Zeichnung abgebrochen."
>in English :
"Invalid or incomplete DXF-input -- drawing aborted".
I'm sure that my files are complete and valid AutoCad files. First I thought, that this is a UNIX-WINDOWS problem, but I've excluded that.
Can anybody help me? Please use simple words, because my English is quite bad.
thx.

What you can do is download Volo View Express...its an Autodesk product and it can open (view) almost any type of dxf or dwg file. So what you have to do is open the file in Volo View and when you have this you can save it as a .dxf file on somewhere like your desktop, this will creat a newer version of the dxf file...I also think it gives you the option of saving it in a specific format...ie r14 dxf file.
It can be downloaded from here (after filling out a small form!!)

If for some reason that doesnt work, there is a different way, it involves using Macromedia Flash. Download this product from
and when you install it you can open the dxf file, and then save it again as a dxf file, this will creat a newer dxf file again!!!!

hope this works out for you!!!! Jay~

put in here!!!???"
