We have a server with Windows Server 2003, SQL 2000, and Exchange 2003. The MMC is behaving very oddly. Our problem started when we couldn't open the SQL Enterprise manager. Nothing ever comes up after we hit the icon, and the event log shows an error (eventID 100, source=Application error) with the following text "Faulting application mmc.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.3790.1830, fault address 0x00026f76."
Then we noticed that if we open a new mmc(start - run - mmc.exe) and try to add a snap-in, we get the following error: "Exchange System Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and MMC shuts down. The following error shows up in the event log (eventid 1000, source=Microsoft Exchange Serv) Faulting application exadmin.dll, version 6.5.7226.0, stamp 406d1e32, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.3790.1830, stamp 4243785e, debug? 0, fault address 0x00026f76..
I've reinstalled the windows service pack and the exchange service pack. The SQL service pack will be coming soon.
Has anyone seen this behavior, and possibly know what is going on?
