Hi

I'm trying to run the Interbase console and connecting to the server thru logon... I have no idea what the logon username and password is!!?? Any ideas pls

Thanks

Username: sysdba
Password: masterkey

This is the default and only username/password combo available after installing InterBase.

What's the error message you're getting?

>i want to convert file a.gdb to file b.mdb

What kind of "mdb" file?

>how can i use ODBC with interbase

Download an ODBC driver. Check section "Contributed downloads" for a list of several ODBC drivers available.

If you would ask your questions a bit better, we could give you better answers. Always include error messages, how you have been setting up things etc etc

Using IBConsole how do you create tables? or do you have to use SQL thanks?

I NEVER use IBConsole, I always use Database Workbench :) Much easier, much better...

hi MartijnTonies

Thanks for your attention.
the error message is " Your user name and password are not defined. Ask your database administrator to set up an InterBase login "

easysoft ODBC for interbase 7 is allready installed, but i want to know what kind of driver i can use to convert a .gdb database to MS access database
and what's the details to do this convesion

thanks

That's strange, by default, there's only one user available (SYSDBA) with password(masterkey). The password is case sensitive.

Are you running the "SuperServer" architecture, on what platform?

What driver? These are two completely different database engines. If you want to convert an InterBase database to an MS Access database, you need to transfer the metadata and data...

You can use the datapump utility from Borland to do the conversion, but generally it is used for upscaling (access --> Interbase), or data converting to similar systems (interbase <---> sql-server), (access <--> paradox) etc.

What you are trying to do is downscaling (put a six cylinder turbo-charged engine to power a motorbike)

Hi All.

i'm a programmer in a software company and this my task.
this is the first time to deal with IB .and i need a real help to finsh my task quikly.

i don't know how can i run the "SuperServer" architecture, in windows 2000 werver "NTFS format".

i work with ODBC in ASP to connect ASP files with database MS Access . what kind of driver i should choose to connect IB with MS Access through ODBC

I need more help PLZ

wessam

Connect IB to MS Access? You cannot. Perhaps you can use MS Access with IB, via ODBC, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Why don't you use ASP to connect to IB?
