VERY NEW AND VERY LOST WITH WINSOCK TO PRINTER IP

Hope this is the right place for this post. I'm trying to send a text file to a printer with a static IP address. I'll be doing this thru VB6 using a tcpServer(winsock), or at least trying to! The example I've been trying to work by was like a client/server setup. I think my problem is the printer is just there, it can't reall connect to the server? It would be great if someone could point me in the right direction to try to make this happen.
