Hi, just wondering if anyone else had come across this, as I have no idea how to sort it out.

When I want to select either of the side resizing boxes of a component (and only the sides, the top/bottom ones are fine and doing anything else is fine), it selects it ok, but the side of the component skips to 5 grid spaces (40 pixels) to the left of it and stays that far away, so I basically can't resize any component to within 5 spaces of the right side of the form and its really annoying in general.

Any thoughts on this?

You don't say which version of Delphi you are using.

Have you got 'Snap To Grid' Checked?

In Delphi 7 this is in Tools | Environment Options | Designer.

However, my Delphi 7 IDE appears to perform resizing as I would expect.

I'm using D7. Mine worked fine until recently, and I can't think of anything I might have changed that would do that. In fact, I don't think I've changed any of the IDE settings at all since I tweaked it after installing it.

hi

You can accurately resize components by holding down the Shift key then using the arrows. Also, if you hold down the Ctrl key and press the arrows, you can position the components by pixel position too.

I know how to resize components, kinda hard to do anything if you don't. My problm is that the edge I'm resizing doesn't go where my mouse is, it moves correctly but 40 pixels to the left.

How is your mouse driver behaving, or did you recently upgrade the mouse and/or the driver?
Same story could apply to VGA card/driver!

The mouse drivers have been the same since I built the machine, and no other program has any problems, nothing else within the Delphi IDE is playing up either.

Er, yeah. An app would look pretty naff if you couldn't, wouldn't it? But some people don't know that it's possible to resize/move components by pixel, especially with Snap to Grid enabled.

Try to reduce the graphic card hardware accleration.

I had a similar problem with Delphi 5.

Nordlund: As an experiment I turned off hardware acceleration completely just now, no change, same problem.

AnaaDapter: Yeah, good point.

This is really annoying me now, why does it only do it for that one thing? This has never happened to me before.
