Running Quicktime 7.6.5 (1327.80) on Windows XP Pro SP3 with 2GB RAM. When I play downloaded (local) video podcasts the playback pauses frequently and then jumps ahead the amount of time it has been paused (CPU util jumps to 99%). This wouldn't be so bad if it just paused and then picked up where it left off, but it jumps ahead several seconds after each pause. It does this about once per minute at random intervals.

Is there some adjustment that can be made to fix this? Is there a better player?

as much as i like quicktime, i use VLC from videolan.org for the majority of my video playback needs.
