What is this & how do I add more since the error message is not enough VM?

This error can have several possible causes.

1st What O.S. are you running?

2nd What program was you working with when you got the error?

3rd What is your p.c. configuration. (Amount of R.A.M. & hard disk free space.)

I ask this because Virtual memory uses the hard drive and if it doesn't have enough free space you will get the error.

I have also seen this error in N.T. if you do not have sufficient rights to run an application.

Please let us know the config. and we can get you an answer.

Please have a look at my FAQ on Virtual memory for a detailed discussion of what it is, and suggestions as to what settings may be right for you. faq602-815

Remember, the best settings are the ones that work for you.

On a Windows 9x machine (this includes ME), Right-click My Computer, choose properties, click the performance tab and you'll see a button for VM settings.

I'd suggest using the formula 1.5 x RAM for the Minimum and Maximum figures.

Also check that you're not running out of hard disk space - clear up some files if you are. I'd also recommend a full defrag before changing the VM settings.

I hope this helps

Thanks you a complete defrag did work!!
