vertical-align -> what does it do? 1

what elements can you use vertical-align on.

I have only found applying it to images seems to work.

is it possible to verticaly align text within a <p> or <div> etc... or is padding/margin the only tool for this job?

It works on all inline elements and on a td.

however i applied it to an anchor and it didn't seem to center them verticaly, infact it just seems to stop the text-decoration from working?

why is this?

oh well i've found that if i make the #id a { line-height: } the same height as the containing #id div it vertical aligns the hyperlinks which was the result I was looking for.
