im new to indesign and am having trouble finding info on document versioning.

for example, if i am doing a national weekly circular for a hardware store, each region has its own version (pricing mainly)

in the past (in quark xpress) you'd simply section the document into 8 page chunks, each comprising one entire flyer. using this method, i'd have only 8 master pages and only have to manage the price changes on each layout page.

in indesgn however, sectioning does not work so transparently. the software keeps inserting section prefixes. i can see a benefit of this in book/chapter publication. but, it does not work so well when each section must stand out as its own entity (dallas' page 1 shouldnt read A-1)

does anyone have a proper solution, workaround or 3rd party plugin solution for doing this type of document versioning?

thanks.

Inserting the section prefix is optional. Look at your Pages palette, double click on the little, black, upside down triangle that rests directly above a page icon the palette. That's a section indicator. Double-clicking opens the options. It sounds like you've got a section prefix set when you don't want one. Deleting whatever is in the Section Prefix field will get rid of the unwanted prefix.
