Hello All,

I would like to install SQL Server 2005 on my laptop with Windows Vista Business. When I run the installation, there are three folders named as follow:

SQL Server Itanium
SQL Server 86x
SQL Server 64 bit

I'm not sure which version to install. Will someone please help me understand the benefit of each version. I'm installing SQL 2005 to familiar myself and use it for personal development to learn SQL 2005 before my job upgrade it to the latest version. Any help/suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

hmm..well are you running a 64bit OS or not is the only question you need to ask yourself on a laptop.

I'm guessing SQL Server 86x is the correct answer though

If you have a 32bit OS then the x86 version.
If you have a 64bit OS then the 64bit version.
If you have Itanium processors (if you don't know if you do, then you don't) then the Itanium version.

The laptop has Windows Vista Business. I'll google and hope it will show me whether the OS is 32 or 64. Thank you all for your input.

You don't know if your laptop is 32bit or 64bit??

Are you sure you should install SQL Server?

If you don't know what version you have click on start then select run. type msinfo32 and hit enter.

I already identify my laptop has a 32-bit OS processor.
Thank you all
