I'm trying to get my head around the various names (Panther, Darwin, etc.) used by Apple to designate their various system releases. Can somebody who knows what these are post a simple explanation and end my frustration?
Are you saying that Darwin and Aqua is no longer used in Panther 10.3?
I was under the silly impression that Aqua is the GUI that runs on top of Darwin. Together, these make the operating system that the average user sees in Jaguar and Panther.
I think Apple should kill off the cat names. They get confusing. What happens when they get to 'Lion', the king of cats? Do they move on to variations of geese?

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?
Zel,
I'm sure Jim is right as regards the nomenclature. And that's before one starts considering Carbon and Cocoa...
My money's on cheetah for 10.4 - as OSX could do with a better turn of speed. I never found Clarence the cross-eyed lion (Daktari) too threatening
