version 8.6 hangs on verify

Trying to do full backup of W2K Advanced Server. Backup Exec hangs while backing up the system partition.
Specifically it hangs while verifying and the file listed is Windows 2000.jpg. When I exclude this file and directory, the verify still hangs.

I am trying to back up and restore on Identical server using IDR. If I skip the verify on the backup, the restore hangs on a file called SA.DAT.

What happens if you don't perform a verify, is the backup successful? Also have you read the logs and have any files actually been skipped or does it hang and in the process bin the logs.

If the logs are not binned can I suggest you copy out the errors and paste them, someone will probably be able to help

How long does it hang? Do you have to stop it or does it automatically end? I back up a database of 50+ Gig and when I use verify after backing up, BE 'hangs' when it gets to 99% verified. But it only 'hangs' for about 5 minutes and then continues. The 'hang' period is when BE gets a lock on the database and does the final verification.
