Is anyone using Impromptu Admin 7.3 yet.

When I install the software i amonly able to open reports and catalogs once. on any subsequent attempts to opena catalog I receive an error message "Out of Memory" (Even after a reboot)

I have tried a number of good spec PC's running XP with 256 - 512 mb memory.

I've reported this to Cognos Support who are looking into the issue, but was just wondering if anyone has got it working yet.

Gary,
Thank you; you've confirmed my experience. I've down-graded to 7.1MR2. My spec is Win2KServer on a dual xenon server with 2GB RAM, plus Win2K on a PC with 1GB. I've passed it to our resellers to investigate.
I'll post if there's any answer.

Another problem was that if the reports and catalogues were left un-upgraded, some reports were giving errors about null values in non-null fields against both our trading DB (Progress) and a summary DB(SQL server), which although incorrect (the fields allowed nulls), I solved by amending cogmod.ini

It now bugs me somewhat to have both a cer3 and cer4 on the same machine; 2 configuration managers.

Ok finally got to the bottom of this, Cognos suppoirt can't tell me why this happening but it has been reported by a number of users lately, and is now a reported bug in the software.

The way to get rid of the ' Out of Memory' erroro message is to go into Tools->Options and uncheck 'Always show catalog logon dialog' then click OK then go back into Tools->Options and recheck the same option.

don't ask me what's happening here and why this fixes the problem, because I don't know and neither do Cognos, but it fixed the problem for me so I'm a little happier.

Hmmm;
a bizarre workaround, but appears to work. Thanks for posting that, Gary. No doubt that's one for 7.3MR1.
I think I'll upgrade after PPES and then I can ditch the cer3 folder.
Anywho, a pointy object for your revelation.
