Hello,

I just took over a sales department with GM ver. 5.7. (5 GM users).

They were on a Server 2003 domain. We took them down to a simple Workgroup with a file/print server.

Each workstation's desktop has a GM shortcut mapped to the GM EXE. All other network activity works great, however GM takes about 30 seconds to completely load, and working in it is slow. IE: 20 seconds to send an email.

Any help is appreciated.

On the peer-to-peer networks sometimes the traffic is to much. A work-a-round on your version would be to do Local Installs from the License Manger once GoldMine is open on the Workstation.

Thanks,

Your help is a goldmine to me.. :) Sorry about the pun.

If I understand you correctly, once GM is open on the workstation, there is a function (license manager) somewhere in the software to do a 'local install'?

I assume this would mean that the program would start and run locally, but also keep fresh with the database on the server?

I should mention that all PCs, server and switch are gigabit.

Also, I do not believe the office has done any database management. How critical is that?
