We have recently upgraded an IP 403 on a customer site from Version 1.3 to 3.0 with all of the intermediatry steps. In addition to the main unit there were a couple of extension units with 16 Analaog Ports, 8 Analog Ports and 8 Digital ports. These all upgraded ok.

We performed some work after the upgrade messing arond with hunt groups etc but nothing too drastic.

Having left the customer site we were told this morning that a number of extensions can not recieve internal calls. If you ring them internally the phone just goes dead. These extensions can make and recieve external calls directly and make internal calls but not recieve them.

I have checked all of the configuration and can't see any obvious reason as to why this should be happening.

Anyone have any ideas/advice?

You could power cycle the system in the proper order.
You could reapply the firmware to the modules.

what release of version 3.0 have you put in place. One of these release has a bug that just so happens to make the phones ring once and then go dead normally applied to analog phones

I have the issue of ring once and go dead.

I was only aware of one version available for 3.0.

Please let me know how to get the latest or fixed version.

The one ring is driving my users crazy.

Thanks
Clay

This problem has now been fixed. The problem extensions were found to all be on an Digital DTx16 expansion module. The handsets were 2030 DT's. We had used the Avaya IP Office Admin CD GA release as we weren't aware there was a specific DT release. Should have read the Avaya website a bit more and done some more research!

Another upgrade with the correct version fixed the problem immediately.

Thanks for all of your advice and suggestions.

Clay some of our handsets had similar issues to those you describe. Check to see if you are using DT handsets and if so make sure you upgraded with the correct DT version available from:

Hope this helps.

Chris.

No DT here.

My issue seams to be across the board. It is primarily with Analog extensions receiving internal calls, but I have seen it on digital and IP extensions where incoming calls from my external PRI or when transfering from the autoattendant ring once and go to hold or disconnect or voicemail. This is on two different IPO's a 403 and a 406.

I am dedicating this weekend to the resolution so anyone's advice would be great.

I am going to try a new config from scratch. Otherwise I am going to downgrade to 2.1 and hope it works. Never had the issue with 1.4 on the IPO and expansion modules. Where can I find instructions on downgrading?

The only other thought I had is could it be the ring type vs the load on the lines? Most of my analog extensions have external ringers and with 1.4 we had adjusted the ring type to get the best external volume. I believe they changed the voltages or something with 3.0. This is a stab in the dark but I thought that could maybe be a factor.
I documented a case of a 4412D+ which works on a version 1.4 IPO or DS expansion but will not power up on a 3.0.

Please help me!

Clay
