How do you go about acquiring an upgrade keycode?

You order it from Nortel, or if you have a vendor they can order it for you.
If you order the "Upgrade Kit" a keycode authorization is included.
The authorization is used, in conjunction with your BCM system ID, to generate the keycode using the Nortel Keycode Retrieval System.

My level 2 Nortel support "inside guy" has told me not to upgrade from 2 to 3 yet. There are still some issues. We've had a couple fail so far.

Goodness......is that everyones consensus?

That's what I've been debating too. Ours is 2.0 (and I have a 1100 expansion module I can't use because of it). I wonder if patching it fully before upgrading to 3.0 minimizes the risk of failure.

Agreed no problems with 2.0 to 3.0 here

just make sure the name of the system is anything other than the default
